October 1, 2012

October 1, 2012 - There's now less than a week left in the indiegogo fundraiser and it doesn't look like it will make it. Which is fine because it would have been a lot of extra work and I was far more interested in it as a something to talk about than act on. But if you'd still like to contribute, you're more than free to do so and I encourage you to do such.

Meanwhile a Chicago court ruled against a mandate requiring pharmacies to sell emergency contraception about a week and a half ago. The ruling indicates that pharmacies would have their religious rights infringed upon under such a law requiring to sell emergency contraception, even though a pharmacy is neither an individual person nor a religious institution which are what the things principles of religious freedom are designed to protect. A pharmacy's primary goal should be to help people, even when these people have different beliefs than the owner of the pharmacy, it's therefore disappointing that a pharmacy refusing to help people with whom it may disagree is allowed to operate under an inaccurate description of its business plan, but nothing in the law restricts pharmacies from carrying emergency contraceptive. So hopefully most continue to do so.
